Our Community Involvement

Oak Park Family Dental Care participates in the following community activities in Salem, Oregon.

Scholarship Application
Every spring we award a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is an Oak Park patient.

Dental Health Solutions
In the year 2000, community surveys identified dental disease as the greatest unmet medical need among our children. Due to a lack of insurance, many Salem area families do not have adequate dental care. Stand for Children was the catalyst - putting these concerns into action. The Dental Health Solutions for Children Committee--a consortium of local dental professionals and community members--was established and meets on a regular basis to network, plan, oversee and evaluate. Oak Park is matched with three local schools to provide emergency services to uninsured children in dental distress.

Medical Teams International Dental Van
The van’s mission is to provide free dental care to low-income, homeless or migrant farm worker populations who have no insurance or realistic way to pay for treatment. More than 1 million people in Oregon and Washington live at or below the federal poverty level. Dr. O’Leary, Dr Palandech, and Dr. Vogel, our founder, donate dental care on the van.

Smiles for Kids
Since 2000, Oak Park Family Dental Care has raised over $38,000 for children’s charities including Family Building Blocks and Liberty House.

This year Oak Park’s “Smiles for Kids” fund raiser will again benefit these two organizations, which fight child abuse right here in Salem. From April 1 through June 30, community members can have their teeth whitened at a reduced fee. Oak Park will donate $150 per whitening patient to a fund for Family Building Blocks and Liberty House. In addition, Oak Park will donate $10 for every new patient that comes in during April.

You can participate at either Oak Park Family Dental Care location: 4175 Silverton Road, NE (503-588-7800) or 760 High Street, NE (503-588-9700). Call for more information or email info@salemsmiles.com.
